Existing roof coverings : PVC membrane laid onto tapered insulation polythene VCL with aluminium capping to perimeter edges.
Scope of works :
The initial scope on this commercial project was to identify ongoing leaks to this roof area which had been poorly maintained.
Visual inspection showed no obvious signs of ingress so we advised our client for us to carry out an electronic Leak detection survey.
The findings of this survey highlighted multiple failings to the waterproofing including some poorly welded seams.
Solution:
Due to the high number of defects found we advised our client to a suitable overlay system utilising Westwood Wecryl PMMA system. A non slip walkway was installed on the perimeter edge of the roof inside the edge protection for future Maintaince / Access etc.
The specification on this system comes with a 20 year insurance backed warranty for peace of mind for the client.
For added protection on this project , we replaced some of the damaged aluminium capping with new 3mm powder coated sections and then re-enforced each butt joint with the Wecryl system.
Access:
Due to the complexity of a full fixed scaffolding , we offered our client a feasible and cost effective option in which a permanent freestanding edge protection system was installed prior to the works taking place to give our team safe access and also futurproofing the roof area for further maintenance such as clearing outlets and inspecting capping etc.
