Thornton primary school (Thornton)
Location– Thornton primary school (Thornton)
Specification – Warm roof, with Metro tile wood shake lightweight metal tiles.
Size – 400m2
Duration – 6 weeks
We carried out a full overhaul of a local school building, removing all the existing coverings and installing a new warm roof.
After removing the existing coverings back to the rafters we installed a new 18mm ply sub deck covered with a self-adhesive bitumen based vapour control layer. 150mm PIR board was then glued direct to the VCL and secured with a new 75x50mm counter batten direct into the rafters with specialist fixing laid over a new breathable underlay, new treated 50×50 battens were secured to the counter battens ready to install the new lightweight metal tiles (metro tile wood shake).
Due to the new build up height, new white PVC Soffits and fascia were installed throughout along with new black Deep Flow Gutters finishing off the new roof perfectly and giving the building new clean and finished look.
The project had a time scale of 6 weeks to be complete whilst the children were enjoying their summer holidays and out the classrooms beneath, all works had been completed by the end of week 5 leaving our clients happy and allowing the children back into their classrooms after the summer break.
